As a child, I looked upon the sky,
Sometimes, when it saw my misery, it empathized, shading me from the rays,
Sometimes, when it saw me cry, it began to weep with the falling rains,
Sometimes, when it saw my hatred, it roared, echoing to the guiltiest of ears,
And sometimes, when it saw me smile, it cleared, sharing with me its cheers.
I’d lie back, and close my eyes,
I wanted to soar, be on the open range and ride,
I’d ignore the differences between ocean and sky,
And unite with my faithful friend,
Letting me gambol aloft the haven.
The immensity was incredible,
Feeling the air, brushing through every strand of hair,
Feeling the sun, warming the surfaces of my skin,
And feeling the absences of both earth and body.
Though all remains unchanged,
As well as I,
Merely dreaming I still flew,
Amongst the sky.
